Community Plan and it’s history…

In 2007 the Parish Council facilitated the setting up of the Community Plan Group, who, following a widespread consultation published its Plan in the spring of 2010.

The Action Plan focused on various aspects of the area – Community, Children and Young People, Parks, Open Spaces and Environment and Traffic, Highways and Transport listing individual issues, actions and potential partners to achieve an outcome. Some of the issues were successfully addressed early in the life of the Plan. Others took more time and indeed over the years some were amended or dropped in light of changing circumstances.

In April 2015, the Community Plan was formally handed over to the Parish Council who would take over its objectives and the ensuing work, with the Steering Group taking on a monitoring role.

Early in 2018, the Steering Group agreed that the time had come for the whole operation to be wound up.

Under the Constitution the Group had to be formally dissolved at a public meeting, also agreeing on how to dispose of any remaining funds held.

The proposal of the Steering Group of the Community Plan was “That the Community Plan Group be formally wound up and any remaining funds handed over to the Parish Council to be put towards the provision of a Defibrillator.”  This proposal was put to residents attending the Annual Assembly on 26 April 2018 and agreed unanimously.

The funds have been handed over to Downend & Bromley Heath Parish Council and the Group has now been formally disbanded. The donation received has been put towards the purchase of a defibrillator at Cleeve Wood shops.
